Electroslag steel remelting
В связи с возрастающими требованиями к качеству выплавляемой стали широкое применение получили внепечное вакуумирование, рафинирование стали синтетическими шлаками в ковше. Сталь особо высокого качества выплавляют в вакуумных электрический печах, путем электрошлакового, плазменного переплава. Внедоменные способы производства стали – одно из перспективных направлений развития металлургии.
ESR installations (electroslag remelting) can significantly improve the quality of the metal, which is caused by the action of the following factors:
- There is no contact of the liquid metal with the lining and air, this eliminates contamination of the metal during remelting;
- The film-like nature of melting and droplet transfer of liquid metal contributes to its intense interaction with the refining medium and the purification of the metal from gases, impurities and non-metallic inclusions;
- Simultaneously and slowly proceeding processes of metal melting and solidification in a water-cooled crystallizer create conditions for obtaining a quasi-stationary liquid metal bath of a small volume, which determines the possibility of obtaining crystal growth perpendicular to the boundary of the liquid and solid phases, floating inclusions and the absence of shrinkage and liquation defects;
- The wide adjusting ability in terms of thermal regime makes it possible to provide the desired shape of the liquid metal bath (and, consequently, the crystallization front), which makes it possible to obtain a structure unchanged along the height of the ingot, optimal in terms of the required metal properties, taking into account the further redistribution of ingots.
